The Iranian currency market opened on Saturday with the US Dollar (USD) maintaining its upward trajectory, reaching a sell rate of 192,700 Toman. The buy rate for USD was recorded at 191,560 Toman. Other major foreign currencies also showed significant values, with the Euro (EUR) selling at 222,300 Toman and the British Pound (GBP) at 259,800 Toman. Regional currencies followed suit, as the UAE Dirham (AED) was priced at 52,700 Toman and the Turkish Lira (TRY) at 4,055 Toman, reflecting continued demand in the exchange market.
The gold and coin market continued its strong performance. The benchmark Emami coin was trading at a notable 188,000,000 Toman. The Azadi coin followed closely at 183,500,000 Toman, while the Nim Seke (Half Coin) was valued at 96,000,000 Toman. For investors interested in raw gold, 18-karat gold was priced at 18,583,498 Toman per gram. Globally, the gold ounce stood at $4,043.70, indicating a strong international gold market that often influences local prices.
The cryptocurrency market presented a mixed picture. Bitcoin (BTC), the leading digital asset, was trading at $63,034. Ethereum (ETH), the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, was recorded at $1,866.93. Tether (USDT), a stablecoin pegged to the US Dollar, was exchanging hands at 194,260 Toman, closely mirroring the official USD exchange rate and highlighting its role in facilitating crypto transactions within the local market.
The persistent high prices across currency and gold markets suggest ongoing inflationary pressures and a flight to tangible assets among investors. The stability of USDT relative to the Toman USD rate also indicates a consistent demand for dollar-pegged assets in the Iranian crypto ecosystem. Market participants will be closely watching for any new economic indicators or policy changes that could impact these trends in the coming days.
